What is SMS?
SMS stands for Short Message Service. This is a service for sending messages to mobile phones that use the Global System for Mobile (GSM) communication. SMS is similar to paging. However, SMS messages do not require the mobile phone to be active and within range and will be kept in store for several days until the phone is active and within range once again.

How short is 'Short' Message Service?
Each SMS is up to 160 characters long.

Is SMS available on all mobile phones?
SMS is available on all mobile phones. However, it is up to the cellular operators to provide this service to their subscribers. Almost all operators in India are providing SMS.

What is Message Centre Number?
All mobile phones can receive SMS. However, to send an SMS, you need to configure the Message Centre Number of your cellular operator on your mobile phone. Normally, you can set the Message Centre Number in the 'Messages' or 'SMS' menu option of your phone. To get the Message Centre Number, contact your cellular operator's customer support division.

What is 9090?
9090 is the information service launched by Sahara Net on SMS.

I am getting an error. What do I do?
We are striving to provide a trouble-free and uninterrupted service. However, you could get an error owing to routine maintenance programs, network load, or other such extraneous factors. If such a problem arises, kindly wait for a while and then retry. In fact, as you wait for a particular service to restart, you could access others on 9090. Simply put, if Astrology isn't functioning due to unavoidable reasons, you could still access other information like News, Stocks or TV Guide. For, it is unlikely that more than one service will be down at any particular time.

Will I be able to access 9090 service if I am visiting another city in India with my roaming number?
Yes! You can access 9090 service from almost everywhere in India with your mobile phone.
